PURPOSE:To prevent not only printing to an area other than printing paper but also the jamming of said printing paper, by mounting a sensor for detecting the presence of the printing paper to a printing mechanism and controlling the printing mechanism on the basis of the information of said sensor. CONSTITUTION:Printing information 7 is sent out to a printing part 1 from a printing control part 2 and a printing mechanism 3 is driven to both left and right directions by a printing control signal 6 to print the printing information 7 on printing paper 4 but, when the width of the printing paper 4 is narrower than a printable region, a sensor 5 detects that the printing paper 4 became absent before the printing mechanism 3 enters a region having no printing paper 4 to inform the same to the printing control part 2 to stop printing by the printing control signal 6. The printing control part 2 having received the absence information of the printing paper 4 from the sensor 5 sends out an alarm signal 9 to an alarm part 8 to allow the user of the printing apparatus to know that the width of the printing paper 4 is deficient. |
