A copolymer having a high refractive index, suitable for manufacture of optical lenses comprises (A) 1 to 90% by weight of first recurring units derived from at least one monomer represented by the formula <IMAGE> wherein R<1> is hydrogen, chlorine, bromine or methyl, R<2> is a polycyclic aliphatic hydrocarbon group, and n is 0, 1, 2 or 3, (B) 1 to 80% by weight of second recurring units derived from at least one monomer containing at least two residues <IMAGE> which is an ester of an aliphatic polyhydric alcohol with an unsaturated carboxylic acid of the formula <IMAGE> in which R<3> is hydrogen, chlorine, bromine or methyl, and (C) 5 to 90% by weight of third recurring units derived from at least one radical-polymerizable monomer capable of giving a homopolymer having a refractive index of at least 1.55. |
