A power transmission device includes a first member (20) and a second member (40) which can rotate relative to one another; a sealed chamber (47) formed between the two members with a viscous fluid filled within the chamber. The power transmission device includes a plurality of resistance plates (25, 43) which can move in the axial direction, the plates mutually approaching one another in the sealed chamber and being capable of relative rotation together with the two members; and a coupling means (30 and 31) which removes the differential slippage between the resistance plates during rotation. The restraint of the differential slippage reduces heat generation and pressure in the viscous fluid thereby increasing the transmitted limiting torque, improving durability of seal members and improving stability of operation. |
