<p>PURPOSE:To make a large-area display and to eliminate crosstalk completely by providing an oriented layer which has an asymmetric oriented film and is not rubbed on the side of an active element and rubbed on the side of a counter electrode inside of a couple of electrodes. CONSTITUTION:The electrode of SCLAD 2 is coupled with the electrode 24 of ferroelectric liquid crystal FLC 3, the other electrode 22 is coupled with Y wires 4 and 5, and the electrode 24 of the FLC is coupled with X wires 6 and 7. The unrubbed electrode 23 of the FLC 3 is formed on the surface of the laminate body 50, formed by laminating the electrode 22, SCLAD 2, and electrode 21 on a substrate 20 successively and photosensitive resin 27, and the FLC 3 is sandwiched between the electrode 23 and the rubbed counter electrode 24 arranged opposite. For the purpose, a nonlinear element and the FLC are combined and oriented asymmetrically to make a large-area display without damaging the active element during the rubbing treatment; when an address (1, 1) is turned on, other addresses are turned off to prevent completely crosstalk from being generated.</p> |
