PURPOSE:To obtain a photographic element having photographic characteristics stable against heat and temp. by forming at least one silver halide emulsion layer on a support and incorporating a 5-membered ring having Te and N in the same ring or its salt in the element. CONSTITUTION:At least one silver halide emulsion layer is formed on the support to form the photographic element and it contains one of the compounds represented by formulae [I], [II], and [III] in which Y<-> is a counter ion, (p) is a positive integer for balancing ion charges, G10, G20, and G40 are each an atomic group for completing an aromatic nucleus to be fused, G11, G21, and G41 are each an atomic group for completing a hetero nucleus to be fused, R1 and R6 are H or an optionally substd. hydrocarbon group, and R3 is an optionally substd. hydrocarbon group. When the compd. is used as a fog inhibitor, it is preferred to add it to at least one of the constituent layers of a photosensitive material, preferably, to the silver halide emulsion layer generally in an amt. of 1X10<-6>-1X10<-3>mol per mol of silver halide. |
