摘要 The invention relates to a heat exchanger for transferring thermal energy between a gaseous and a liquid medium, having a number of ribs through which the liquid medium flows preferably parallel, and the gaps between which are penetrated by a gaseous medium. Such heat exchangers are widely applied, but can also be part of a boiler for central heating systems which is heated by oil burners. In order to make far-reaching use of the heat and for the purpose of far-reaching temperature adaptation, because of the relatively low heat transfer coefficient the gaseous medium requires extended heating surfaces over which it spreads. In order to be able to make large heating surfaces available at low expense and with a small space requirement, it is proposed to fit the ribs 34 with planar, mutually parallel walls between which expanded metal plates 42 to 46 or a plurality of layers of such expanded metal plates are provided which are in permanent contact with the walls of the ribs. This leads at low cost to large surface areas around which the gaseous medium flows and which also produce a desired turbulence in the gaseous medium and thus an increase in the transfer coefficient when the webs of the expanded metal are directed in the direction of flow of the gaseous medium against the walls of the ribs. <IMAGE>
