PURPOSE:To retrieve an image information at high sped in a comparatively simple constitution by retrieving a binder having the same title structure as another designated binder out of a data base and retrieving the entire title contained in the relevant binder. CONSTITUTION:When a binder is designated, a binder catalog BC on a data base DB is retrieved. Then another binder having the same title structure TT as the designated binder is retrieved. With input of the retrieving conditions, the retrieval is carried out under these conditions to all retrieved binders. Then a retrieving title T accordant with the retrieving conditions is detected out of those binders and displayed on a CRT display device 24. When a display picture is designated according to the display on the device 24, the corresponding image information is retrieved out of an optical disk 19 and displayed on the device 24.
