A shooting target can have an acoustic chamber 4, in which internal microphones 5 are mounted for receiving sound waves which are produced by a projectile 6 which is fired towards the target. The internal microphones 5 are connected to equipment which is adapted to determine the impact position of the projectile on the basis of differences in the transit time of the sound waves to said microphones 5. An external microphone 9 is positioned on the front side of the target, essentially in the front plane of the target, to receive sound waves which are produced by a projectile 6 which is fired towards the target at supersonic speed. The external microphone 9 is connected to equipment which is adapted to determine the supersonic speed of the projectile on the basis of the impact position of the projectile and the transit time of the sound waves to the external microphone 9. <IMAGE>
