PURPOSE:To obtain the titled polymer useful as an adhesive, etc., having a specific amount of reactive oxazolindione group, specific molecular weight and high cohesiveness between molecules, by polymerizing a 2-(alpha-alyl) vinyloxazolin-4,5-dioic acid salt. CONSTITUTION:A 2-(alpha-alkyl)vinyloxazolin-4,5-dioic acid salt (e.g., 2- isopropenyloxazolin-4,5-dionehydrochloride, etc.) shown by the formula I (R is H or lower alkyl; X is acid reside) is polymerized by the use of a radical polymerization initiator, to give the aimed polymer having 1,000-100,000 molecular weight and 0.1-83.3wt% reactive oxazolindione group shown by the formula II bonded to a polymer skeleton containing a carbon-carbon bond.
