PURPOSE:To rapidly lower the temperature of a recording head, by a method wherein when the temperature of a recording head is raised above a predetermined value, a recording operation is stopped, and only a recording head moving operation is conducted to forcibly cool the head through the movement of the head. CONSTITUTION:After a recording operation is started, when a temperature detected by a temperature-detecting part 6 exceeds T1, a flag indicative of the excessive temperature is set ON in step S5, and step S8 is executed, in which it is discriminated whether the recording head 8 is moved by a motor 7 leftward or rightward. When it is discriminated that the head 8 is moved rightward, the head is moved to a right margin position in step S9, is then returned to a left margion position in step S10, and thereafter the head is returned to the position at which and recording operation has been stopped, in steps S11, S12. When data have been already recorded at the position to which the head is returned, step S11 is again executed to continue the head- moving operation, thereby cooling the head. |
