PURPOSE:To obtain lactic acid safely and efficiently without using toxic prussic acid, by subjecting acrylic acid into contact reaction with a microoragnism, belonging to the genus Fusarium or Penicillium, and having the ability to convert the acrylic acid into lactic acid. CONSTITUTION:Acrylic acid is subjected to contact reaction with a microorganism, belonging to the genus Fusarium or Penicillium, and having the ability to convert the acrylic acid into lactic acid, e.g. Penicillium sp. P-19 strain (FERM-P No.8264), at 27-32 deg.C and 5.5-6.5pH, preferably in 1-20g/l concentration for 36-48hr to afford the aimed lactic acid. |
