<p>A primary aromatic diamine having the general formula: < IMG > wherein X is a carbinol group when Y is a carbonyl group, X is d carbonyl group when Y is a carbinol group, or X and Y are carbinol groups; wherein the nitrogen may be independently attached to the benzene rings in the 2-, 3-, or 4-positions; and wherein isomerism is present when X, Y, or X and Y are said carbinol groups. The diamines are used in the preparation of novel polyimides which are useful as adhesives or molded articles.</p> |
