METHOD FOR CUTTING TAPE-LIKE MULTICORE OPTICAL CABLE CORE

PURPOSE:To cut off an optical fiber at its rectangular end surface by leaving a part of an unnecessary coat on an exposed optical fiber at the removal of the coat and then cutting of the exposed optical fiber between the residual coat and the unnecessary coat. CONSTITUTION:At the removal of the coat 12 of the tape-like multicore optical fiber core 10, the unnecessary coat 12A to be removed is slid on the exposed optical fiber 14 and left on the optical fiber 14 exposed with a fixed interval P from the residual coat 12B on the optical fiber 14. Then, the exposed optical fiber 14 is cut off on a line 15 between the residual coat 12A and the unnecessary coat 12B by a cutter (unshown in figure).
