<p>The laminated sheet is made by (a) heating water to 70-90 deg.C; (b) adding sodium bentonite; (c) dispersing unoxidised penetration asphalt at 110-130 deg.C in the mixt. to form an aq. paste; (d) adding an electrolyte, e.g. Al sulphate, to give pH 6-7.5; (e) incorporating vermiculite, perlite, sand or rubber powder as filler and homogenising; (f) applying the cold paste to a steel core; (g) heating to cure the asphalt coating; and (h) adhering aluminium foil to the hot asphalt. - It is suitable for construction purposes, esp. roofing.</p> |
