An endless sealing strip (48) has a base portion (52) which is held in a mounting channel inside the housing of a seed meter, and a lip (54) springing from the base portion. The lip bears against one face of a seed disk to define, with the disk and the housing, a vacuum chamber which applies suction through holes in the disk to pick up seeds from a seed chamber on the opposite side of the disk and carry them to a discharge sector where they drop off the disk and down a planting chute. The major part (84) of the seal lies on a circle outside the path of the holes. In the discharge sector the seal has a reentrant portion (92) which is set inside the path of the holes so that suction is not applied over the discharge sector, in order that the seeds may drop off the disk.
|
