PURPOSE:An antitumor agent obtained by freeze-drying microbial cells of Streptococcus faecium. CONSTITUTION:An antitumor agent obtained by multiplying Streptococcus faecium strain (Streptococcus faecium R 672 strain; FERM-P No.8176) in a suitable culture medium, collecting microbial cells from the resultant culture fluid by centirfugation, treating the collected microbial cells directly with Penicillin G Potassium (manufactured by Wako Pure Chemical Industries, Ltd.), and freeze-drying the treated substance. The agent can be formulated with an excipient, diluent or adjuvant, etc. into a suitable dosage form. The preferred administration dosage form is injection and transfusion solution. In this case, the dose thereof may be 1-2,000mg/day (i.v.). |
