<p>Method comprises (a) reacting 7-ethyl triptophal with a 3-oxopentanioc acid ester and a low mol wt. alcohol e.g. methyl alcohol in toluene, in presence of p-toluenesulphonic acid under reflux for 8-24 hrs. to give an ester and (b) hydralysing in basic medium to give a tetrahydro (3,4-b) indole acetic acid deriv. (I). Prod. (I) is 1,8-diethyl-1,3,4,9-tetra-hydropiran (3,4-b) indole acetic acid.</p> |
