PURPOSE:To obtain a photosensitive material high in photosensitivity and contrast, developing rapidly, and small in dye stains after processing by spectrally sensitizing silver halide grains with a specified merocyanine dye, and incorporating a specified tetraazolium compd. in a hydrophilic colloidal layer. CONSTITUTION:A photosensitive material suitable to a printing plate material, especially high in green-sensitivity and capable of rapidly developing a halftone dot image can be obtained by incorporating in a silver halide emulsion layer as a spectral sensitizer the merocyanine dye represented by formula I (Z is a nonmetallic atomic group necessary to form an oxazole, benzoxazole, or naphthoxazole ring; R<1> is an optionally subtd. alkyl; R<2> is dalkoxycarbonylalkyl, hyroxyalkyl, or the like or -(CH2)n-A, A is CN, alkylsulfonyl, or the like; n is 1-4; and R<3>, R<4> are each, optionally same or different, H, alkyl, Cl, or the like), and adding to the hydrophilic colloidal layer a compd. represented by formula II in which R<5>, R<6>, R<7> are each H or a group negative in Hammett's sigma value and all of them are not simultaneously H, and X is an anion. |
