<p>Process for the manufacture of D(-)αphenylglycine, by dividing DL phenylglycine with D(+)camphor sulphonic acid in the presence of a strong acid in a reaction vessel, in which the salt which crystallises out is separated by filtering from the D(-)αphenylglycine and hydrolysed, a base then being added to precipitate the D(-)αphenylglycine, which is finally recovered by filtration and the filtrate obtained in this way contains the salt of D(-)camphor sulphonic acid dissolved in water which is recycled to the reaction vessel, while the filtrate obtained after the operation of filtering the D(-)αphenylglycine salt with L(+)αphenylglycine is subjected to alkaline racemisation with the help of a base so that the DL phenylglycine obtained is also recycled in the reaction vessel.</p> |
