<p>A connecting rod is divided lengthwise along a surface (1) into 2 mating parts (2, 3) and is formed from fibre reinforced plastics material with the majority of the reinforcing fibres extending substantially along the length of the connecting rod. Steps (18, 19) in the mating surfaces of the parts (2, 3) cooperate to provide transverse lands which bear one upon the other to resist shear forces along the surface (1).</p> |
