PURPOSE:To facilitate easy arithmetic operation by producing a tree with input of a character and a phrase separately from the output of an intermediate code and outputting an intermediate text based on the tree. CONSTITUTION:When an equation held at a source holding part 1 is read out, a character/phrase analyzing part 2 analyzes whether the output of the equation is equal to a label or an operator. The result of this analysis is sent tot a comparison part 3 and a tree production part 4 for once production of a tree. This tree is stored in a tree holding part 6. An alteration processing part 7 checks the tree to check the presence or absence of an alteration item written on an alteration dictionary 8. Then the changed tree is stored in the part 6. Such a processed tree is sent to a text output part 10 to undergo the optimization processing. Then the tree is sent to a labeled address which is defined by a definition holding part 9 according to the result of the optimization processing.
