PURPOSE:To burn and remove a deposit, by feeding a high-temp. gas contg. oxygen into a coke oven gas flowing line within which a coking deposit accumulated to initiate combustion of the deposit and incorporating a solid particle in the gas. CONSTITUTION:A high-temp. crude coke oven gas produced in a coke oven 1 is fed through a piping 4 into a gas stream heating pipe 5, where the gas is brought into contact with coal 8 to cause heat exchange and transferred to the next step. When a coking deposit accumulated within a coke oven gas flowing line, the feed of the crude coke oven gas is stopped, and a high-temp. decoking gas contg. oxygen is fed from a heating oven 30 to initiate combustion of the deposit. A solid particle is incorporated from a solid particle feeding apparatus 33 in the decoking gas to bring the solid particle into collision with an ash layer formed on the surface of the deposit, causing the ash layer to be broken and removed. Thus, a sufficient combustion can be attained to the inside of the deposit for decoking.
