PURPOSE:To obtain the titled resin particle which gives expanded resin articles composed of cells having the desired size and having excellent appearance and mechanical strength, by incorporating a hydrocarbon blowing agent, a hydrogenated hardened vegetable oil and an epoxidized unsaturated fatty acid ester in a styrene resin. CONSTITUTION:1-15% (by weight based on the amount of resin; the same applies hereinbelow) hydrocarbon blowing agent (e.g. butane and cyclohexane) having a b.p. lower than the softening point (according to the ball and ring method) of the resin, not more than 1.0% hydrogenated hardened vegetable oil having a m.p. of 30-90 deg.C and not more than 1.0% lower alcohol ester of an epoxidized unsaturated fatty acid (e.g. epoxidized methyl oleate) are incorporated as essential ingredients in a styrene resin such as poly-alpha-methyl-styrene.
