PURPOSE:To select a KANJI (Chinese character) or phrase out of their candidates respectively or to select either one of KATAKANA (square form of Japanese syllabary), HIRAGANA (cursive form of Japanese syllabary) and the alphabet with a KANJI selection key for the input reading itself to supply it to a sentence for conversion into an optional type of character. CONSTITUTION:This inputting device for Japanese sentence is provided with a keyboard 1, a display device 2, an external memory device 3, a retrieving circuit 4, a memory 5 and a controller 6. A sentence producer supplies the reading of a Japanese sentence through the keyboard 1. Thus the input reading and its corresponding KANJI and phrases are displayed on the device 2. For instance, the reading 11 is displayed on the 2nd line in a Roman character input mode together with its corresponding KATAKANA, HIRAGANA, the alphabet and KANJI displayed on the 7th line as a KATAKANA character 23, a HIRAGANA character 24, an alphabet letter 25 and a KANJI 26 respectively. A KANJI selection key is shown by the number 32. Thus the operator uses the key 32 for conversion into KANJI and then an alphabet selection key for conversion into the alphabet.
