PURPOSE:To enhance the practicability of a caster, by providing such an arrangement that the change-over between an inoperating condition in which an item to be set, such as, a furniture, etc., provided with casters are made stationary, and an operating condition in which the item to be set is moved, is simply carried out by the inclination thereof in a predetermined direction and the operation of recovery thereof. CONSTITUTION:A stationary block 2 is attached to the lower section of a furniture 5, etc., and a movable block 1 is supported movably in the vertical direction by a suitable guide means, adjacent to the stationary block 2, and is urged downward by means of a spring 6. The shaft 4 of a caster 3 is supported, at one end thereof, to the movable block 1, and is coupled, at the other end, to the furniture 5 such that the shaft 4 may vertically swing about its the other end as a fulcrum. The movable block 1 is composed of a first stopper 7 which is urged clockwise by means of a spring 8. Further, the stationary block 2 is formed therein with a recess 10 into which the stopper 7 is adapted to be engaged when the movable block 1 comes to a lower predetermined position, and is provided with a second stopper 7 inhibiting the vertical movement of the movable block 1 when the stopper is engaged in the recess.
