PURPOSE:To attain high density recording and high reliability by deciding the relative position between a soft iron piece and a ring magnet so as to bring a head onto a CSS zone thereby restoring the head automatically from an R/W zone to the CSS zone. CONSTITUTION:The head 5 is positioned onto a prescribed track of a disc 22 by flowing a proper current to a coil 3 and the soft iron piece 14 in the notch of a holder 20 is turned relatively to the ring magnet 15. When the current of the coil 3 is interrupted, the soft iron piece 14 is attracted to N and S poles of the magnet 15 and the head 5 turns the arm group 4 until it comes onto the CSS zone of the disc 22. The relative position between the soft iron piece 14 and the magnet 15 is decided until the head 5 comes onto the CSS zone when the piece 14 most approaches the N and S poles of the magnet 15. As a result, the head 5 is restored automatically on the CSS zone at all times at the rotation stop of the disc 22.
