PURPOSE:To decrease the positioning error at a disc device and to minimize the seek time by applying correction to the positioning when read information is in error. CONSTITUTION:A signal (c) read from a disc 5 by a head 4 is converted into a pulse signal (d) by a read circuit 6 and sent to a host device. If the signal (d) has an error, a positioning correction signal (e) is inputted to a correction circuit 7 from the host device, and the circuit 7 sends a positioning offset signal (f) to a motor control circuit 1. Thus, a head 4 is positioned in response to the correction instructed from a track position positioned at that time by a stepping motor 2 driven by the signal (b), the read signal (c) from the head 4 is compared with the amplitude of the initial signal (c) at a detection circuit 8, a correction position instruction signal (g) is sent to the circuit 7 depending on the result of comparison and the circuit 7 sends the signal (f). As a result, the signal (g) is outputted to apply re-positioning to the correction position maximizing the amplitude of the signal (c).
