PURPOSE:To prevent generation of contact demagnetizing effect by providing a closing cap penetrating a screen main body, inserting a permanent magnet into said cap, and performing magnetization or demagnetization of the filter element in accordance with the position or uninserted condition of the cap. CONSTITUTION:A filter element 10 is introduced into a recess of a screen nozzle 14, and the thickness of a filtration layer 9 is made uniform by rotating a rake 31. The filter element 10 is magnetized by a permanent magnet 12. Under this condition, the liquid to be treated is introduced into a vessel 1 through a liquid inlet port 5, and clad is captured by the liquid and discharged from a liquid outlet port 7. When the permanent magnet 12 is moved to below a screen nozzle 14 and housed in a housing 23, the filter element 10 is demagnetized. Further, the filter element 10 is discharged from a discharging port 8 for the element by the dead weight of the element 10.
