摘要 <p>PURPOSE:To reduce the power consumption of a battery and to extend the usable time of electronic appliance by detecting the battery voltage dropping below a set voltage, and generating the 2nd clock of lower frequency than a current clock and supplying it to a CPU. CONSTITUTION:If the voltage of the battery 7 drops below the preset voltage during the operation of a computer 1, a deficient voltage detecting circuit 5 interrupts the CPU 1. The CPU 1 when interrupted enters a program stored in its main storage memory 2 and displays some warning on a display device 8 through an input/output interface 3. Then, a clock frequency indication CD is turned on to a clock control circuit 4. When the indication CD is turned on, the circuit 4 sends out the clock signal CK2 of low frequency reduced to half as a clock CK. Consequently, the operation of the CPU 1 is slowed down and the power consumption is reduced.</p>
