PURPOSE:To simplify construction and reduce a load on a driving part, by a construction wherein a movable body for supporting a take-up spool for the second ribbon and a ratchet is connected to only one side of a carriage so that it can be freely reciprocated. CONSTITUTION:A payout spool 4 for holding a correction ribbon 3 (the second ribbon) in a wound state on one end side is detachably fitted to the right side of the carrier 2 in a rotatable manner. An arm 6 (the movable body) is con nected to the left side of the carrier 2 so that it can be turned in vertical direc tion with a shaft 7 as a center, and the correction ribbon 3 and the ratchet 9 are concentrically connected to the arm 6 so that they can be rotated as one body. When correcting a misprinted character, an electromagnet 13 is excited during rotation of a motor 12, and an armature 22 is operated to release the driven side of a spring clutch 14 thereby effecting follow-up rotation, and a cam 15 is rotated by one revolution to reciprocate the arm 6 one time. By the upward movement of the arm 6, the correction ribbon 3 is opposed to the correcting position. In the downward stroke of the arm 7, the ratched 9 is rotated by being fed by a feed pawl 24, whereby the correction ribbon 3 is taken up by the spool 8 by a one-pitch amount.
