PURPOSE:To uniformize temperature distribution in a heating part and realize high printing quality and long useful life, by providing an island form electrode layer between heating element energizing electrode layers provided on a heating element layer, by leaving parts of the electrode layer simultaneously with exposing the heating element layer. CONSTITUTION:An electrode layer 3 is etched away over a width W at a plurality of parts, whereby the island form electrode layer 3 is left in a mesa (plateau) form over a width W, and an abrasion-resistant layer 4 is provided thereon, resulting in that mesa structure parts 4a are provided in correspondence with the island form electrode layer 3. In this construction, electric currents flow as indicated by dotted-line arrows 5. That is, at the part devoid of the electrode layer indicated by W, the currents flow in the heating element layer 2 to generate heat, whereas at the parts of the island form electrode layer 3a, the current flows mainly in the layer 3a, and heat generated in the heating element layer 2 is transferred to a paper through the layer 3a (which is formed of a metal having high thermal conductivity), the mesa structure parts 4a and peripheral parts, so that even where the heating element layer 2 is divided into a plurality of heating parts, heat is uniformly supplied to the paper. |
