PURPOSE:To improve the wear resistance of self-fluxing Fe alloy powder and the suitability to building up by reducing the amounts of Ni and Co and adding specified amounts of Cr, Mo, V, B, C, Si and Mn. CONSTITUTION:The composition of self-fluxing Fe alloy powder is composed of, by weight, 10-30% Cr, 5-15% Mo, <=10% V, 1-5% B, 1-5% C, 0.1-5% Si, 0.1-5% Mn, <=15% Co and the balance Fe. The amounts of expensive Ni and Co in the Fe alloy powder are reduced to proper values in the range of <=15% in which they are effective in improving the suitability of the powder to building up. The powder has superior wear resistance under severe conditions which causes wear in spite of the high Fe content, and it can be used for thermal spraying or other process at a low cost.
