PURPOSE:To obtain a machining head commonly used to X and Z axes by arranging a housing having a guiding face slanted by 45 deg. to a rotating face, at a specified position on the forward face of a turret heat and installing a rotating member guided by the housing and having a tool main axis slanted by 45 deg. thereto and a power transmission mechanism. CONSTITUTION:By a driving power, a intermediate axis 20 is rotated through a gear 19, a power transmission axis 29 through bevel gears 23, 28 and a tool main axis 34 through a bevel gear 27. Furthermore, a rotating member 32 is fitted into a frange 31 fixed at an aperture part 24a by a screw 69. A bevel gear 65 is supported by an axis 66 and engaged/disengaged by a magnetic clutch 68. When the bevel gear 27 is rotated in an excited condition, the rotating member 32 is rotated together with the bevel gear 27 owing to fixation of the axis 66 to its boss part and when a rotation angle reaches to 180 deg., a tool T is indexed to 90 deg. direction. When an oil pressure is given to a piston 72 fixed on the rotating member 32, said member 32 is engaged with a frange 31, and a pin 73 is inserted and positioned in a hole 72a when an oil pressure is given to a pressure room 75.
