ROLLING METHOD BY MULTI-STAGE ROLLING MILL

PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of the uneven wear of intermediate rolls and work rolls and the generation of the uneven brightness of a steel strip by moving axially the intermediate rolls and the work rolls in contact therewith in the directions opposite from each other. CONSTITUTION:The intermediate rolls 2 of a multi-stage cluster rolling mill is unevenly worn by both ends of the divided parts 3a, 3b of backup rolls 3. The rolls 2 and the work rolls 1 in contact therewith are therefore axially moved in the directions opposite from each other. Hydraulic or other devices are used for the movement and the movement is executed before the passage of the strip or intermittently. The contact positions of the respective rolls are thereby changed from each other and therefore the uneven wear which is not fully prevented by the movement of the intermediate rolls along is prevented. The generation of the uneven brightness of the steel strip surface is approximately thoroughly prevented as well.
