PURPOSE:To obtain efficiently in high yield high-purity Ca(SCN)2 useful as setting promoter for cement, concrete, etc., spinning solvent, etc., by reacting Ca(NO2)2 with NH4SCN in an aqueous solvent until NH4SCN is consumed. CONSTITUTION:(A) 1mol Ca(NO2)2 is reacted with (B) 2-1.3 NH4SCN in an aqueous solvent at 50-the boiling point as shown by the formula without causing side reactions until the component B is consumed, to give Ca(SCN)2 containing no remaining component A.
