PURPOSE:To effectively protect GTOs by composing an inverter in which fuses are connected in series with the arms of the GTOs, and providing a voltage detector for detecting the terminal voltages of reactors and an arm shortcircuit detector for detecting the shortcircuit of the arm. CONSTITUTION:Fuses 23U, 23X, 23Y, 23W, 23Z are connected in series with the arms of GTOs 20U, 20X, 20V, 20Y, 20W, 20Z of an inverter 2 respectively. The terminal voltages of the reactors 21U, 21X, 21V, 21Y, 21W, 21Z are detected by voltage detectors 25U, 25V, 25W, and the arm shortcircuit is detected by arm shortcircuit detectors 26U, 26V, 26W by the voltage detection signals. Only the GTO of the arm which is not shortcircuited at the arm on the basis of the arm shortcircuit detection signals of the detectors 26U, 26V, 26W is turned OFF, thereby cooperating with the fuses. |
