PURPOSE:To detect the number of an electric wire efficiently by connecting a distribution part to one end of the wire to be detected. CONSTITUTION:When counters CNT-1 and CNT-2 are put in synchronous counting operation, number detection information supplied to the wire 2 to be detected is distributed in time series by a distributing circuit DST according to the counted value of the counter CNT-2. The counters CNT-1 and CNT-2 synchronize with each other, so the counted value of the counter CNT-1 is read at the time of the number detection information returned through the selected wire 2 to be detected and the numeral coincides with the number of the selected wire 2. For the purpose, the distribution part 200 is connected to one terminal of the wire 2 to be detected, and consequently even if an optional wire is take out among wire 2 to be detected, the number of the number is displayed immediately by a display part 10, speeding up the discrimination of electric wire numbers.
