PURPOSE:To prevent a recording operation from being continued, by constituting the titled device so that an alarm control signal is outputted, when a recording head has reached the outside of a recording allowable range of a recording medium. CONSTITUTION:When a magnetic head 4 reaches the innermost periphery which can execute recording of a magnetic disk 1, and a recording operation is completed therein, a position detector 21 is operated by an operation of a head feeding mechanism 5. Subsequently, an alarm circuit 22 is operated, a control signal is outputted to a control input terminal 20a of an output circuit 20, and an output of a video signal is stopped. In this way, a monitoring video signal is eliminated from an output terminal 12, a received picture of a TV receiver, which an operator is seeing disappears, and the operator can perceive quickly that a device is not in a recordable state.
