PURPOSE:To enhance measuring accuracy, prior to using a silver/silver chloride electrode as a chlorine ion selective electrode, by treating said electrode by immersing the same in a solution containing a salt having a bromine ion as an anion at specific concn. or less. CONSTITUTION:A silver/silver chloride electrode element as a chlorine ion selective electrode is formed of a silver chloride layer 2 allowing to act as a chlorine ion responsive layer, a silver wire 3 as a lead wire and a cover 4 and immersed in a solution 6 containing a salt having a bromine ion as an anion at concn. of 10mM or less pref., 0.1mM or less to treat the silver chloride layer 2 to form an electrode 8 having a chlorine ion responsive layer 7. As a result, when this electrode 8 is used in the analysis of blood, said electrode is made hard to receive the effect of a minute amount of a Br<-> ion present in blood and the shift of potential to a negative side at the beginning of analysis and measuring accuracy can be enhanced. |
