The two chains (121) comprising the transporter run parallel to each other, spaced apart by a distance exceeding the length of the straw being laid. The pick-ups (135) are paired and draw the straw out of the cassette. Receiving and pushing components are positioned above the transporter. Support units (140) are fixed to a beam (100) movable vertically and belonging to one of the receiving units. This beam is movable to an upper position where the support units are located above the level of the pick-ups, and to a first lower position where the L-shaped part of the support units is below the pick-up level. With the support units in the upper position, the transporter feeds out straw per pair of pick-ups, moving it past the support units. The latter are then lowered to the first lower position, the transporter reverses, the straw is removed by the support units from the pick-ups, the support units drop to a second lower position, and pushers remove straw from them. |
