PURPOSE:To reduce the generation of noise and to improve an output, by a method wherein, in a combustion chamber in which the axis of a dome is inclined at a specified angle with the central line of a cylinder, the areas of two different specified surfaces in relation to the dome and a skish zone are set to a specified relation. CONSTITUTION:A combustion chamber 9 has a done 10, formed in the shape of a circle in cross section extended along the radius of a cylinder, and an annular skish zone 11 spreading in succession to the dome 10 toward the outer peripheral side of the top surface of a piston. The dome 10 is placed so that its axis O1-O2 is inclined toward the suction port 4 side at a specified angle alphawith a central line O1-O1 of a cylinder 1a. In this constitution, a relation between S1 and S2 is set to S1<S2, wherein S1 is an oblong area surrounded with an intersection line between an extension line along a slanted surface 10b of the dome 10 and a plane passing the maximum size part of the skish zone 11, and S2 is the area of an annular surface being the area of the maximum size part of the skish zone 11 less the ares S1.
