PURPOSE:To simplify the structure of a casing constituting a cooking chamber to ensure the safety of the cooking apparatus by curving more than one corner of a cylindrical body with a large curvature radius and extending the end edge of a door so that it covers the curved portions. CONSTITUTION:Since each of the corner portion of a cooking chamber has a large curvature radius R, electromagnetic waves make irregular reflection and materials to be cooked are uniformly heated and further the partial concentration of electromagnetic waves is eliminated. Hence, dissolution or burning of constituent parts due to the field concentration does not occur. Further, since the edges of the upper and lower end surfaces of a door 2 are extended, the gas between the apparatus main body 1 and the door 2 can be extremely narrowed, steam and smoke generated from the material to be cooked in accordance with the cooking action do not leak to the outside. Further, since it becomes impossible to unintentionally insert a metal bar or the like through the gap, there is no possibility that the electromagnetic wave might leak out, and therefore it is safe. According to the structure of the cooking apparatus, it assumes a casing of a single wall structure, in which the apparatus main body 1 is concurrently used as a part of the cooking chamber 4, and hence the weight of the apparatus is lightened, the size thereof becomes compact and the manufacturing cost thereof is decreased.
