The tongue device is installed in points for grooved rails, in particular tram rails, in which the tongue (3) is butt-welded together with the connector rail (6). The known tongue fastenings have the disadvantage that, in the event of breakage of the butt-weld (5), the tongue (3) is no longer held in this region, which can lead to derailments of the rail vehicles. In the present tongue device, on the other hand, the tongue (3) maintains its position even after a breakage of the butt-weld. This is achieved by the end of the tongue (3) lying in the region of the butt-weld being connected to a laterally lying stationary rail (2). The figure shows a plan view onto grooved-rail points with the grooved rail (1), rail (2), connector rail (6) and the tongue (3) which is welded together with the connector rail (6) at the butt-weld (5). For fixing the tongue (3) to the stationary rail (2), use is made of the intermediate distance element (7) and the screw connection (8, 9). <IMAGE>
