PURPOSE:To reproduce and erase exactly high density recording information without depending on a tracking signal by changing the spot shape of an irradiated light when performing a function for recording, reproducing and erasing the information of an optical tape. CONSTITUTION:A beam being long and slender in a direction orthogonal to the moving direction (v) of an optical tape 2 is used for a reproduction use.
