According to the invention, a roll arrangement for use in a paper machine is provided. The roll arrangement comprises a rotatable shaft and a roll, fixed to the shaft, for squeezing off the paper suspension and for squeezing water out of the paper suspension. The roll consists of a hardened body of a hydraulic composition, which contains a hydraulic material as the main constituent. In addition, the hardened body contains particles of comminuted rock, having a strength which is at least equal to that of the hardened body. The compressive strength of the hardened body is not less than 588 bar (600 kp/cm<2>). <IMAGE>
