The invention relates to a device for the continuous refining of metal melts, in particular pig-iron melts. A refractory-lined elongated channel (1) through which the metal melt flows has, on one side, a raised wall section (7) in which interchangeable blast pipes (8 to 11) distributed over the length of the channel (1) are fitted. By turning the channel (1) in the direction of the arrow (17) via rollers (3, 3'), the blast pipes (8 to 11) can be brought below the bath level. As a result of the turning, the height of the metal outlet (15) is automatically changed, so that by selective turning of the channel (1) the metallurgical height of the metal in the channel (1) can be changed. The channel (1) is particularly suitable for refining, e.g. desiliconising or dephosphorising, pig-iron flowing directly out of the blast furnace as it flows through the channel. <IMAGE>
