An item of ammunition (1) having an electrical energy store (4) is intended to be equipped with a simple, low-power matching circuit (9) in order to reduce the voltage which is taken from an on-board network (7) of a carrier (6) to the operating voltage of the load (8) on-board the item of ammunition (1). Provided for this purpose on-board the item of ammunition (1) is a switching device (10) by means of which an operating store (11) for reducing the terminal voltage on the basis of charge equalisation can be connected in parallel with the energy store (4) which is charged or is in the course of being charged. The time response of the switching device (10) can be influenced via a control device (12) which operates, for example, in a time-dependent or voltage-dependent manner with respect to the charging and charge-reversal processes on the energy store (4), in order to vary the operating voltage on-board the item of ammunition (1). <IMAGE>
