PURPOSE:To shorten the blank part which absorb the thermal effect of a thermal roll and enable the number of transferred copies to be increased and cost involve to be saved by arranging a means to draw back transfer paper after transfer by the thermal roll on a transfer paper movement path. CONSTITUTION:Transfer paper 1 fed by a feeder roll shaft 5 is intermittently taken up by a winding roll shaft 6, and a thermal roll 7 is vertically moved against a mate rial to be transferred 8 which is freely inserted to and supported on a rotating disk 10 thus allowing the transfer to be performed. An assisting means to rotate the feeder roll shaft 5 in an opposite direction with an assistance force adjusted to be less power ful than a drawing-out force, is attached to said feeder roll shaft 5. At that time, a sensor 13 is moved from 'A' point to 'B' point on the side of the feeder roll shaft 5 by a length where transfer paper 1 is drawn back. Then the stop position of the winding roll shaft 6 is allowed to recede by the distance where the sensor 13 has moved. Alternatively, a movable bar 14 which shuttles back and forth with transfer paper 1a attached to the former, is provided in a transfer paper 1a movement path after transfer operation. Then the bar 14 is pulledor slackened. As a result, it is pos sible to reduce the blank part which absorbs the thermal effect of the thermal roll 7, increase the number of copy transfers of a unit length, and lower a unit transfer price.
