PURPOSE:To facilitate en easy correcting job with a pen type input device by displaying successively the results of character recognition of written numeric characters, symbols, etc. at a display part separately from the normal numerical display, et. CONSTITUTION:A display part 2 using a liquid crystal display element is formed at the upper side face of a case 1. While a clear key 3 for input contents, etc. is provided at the position corresponding to the first finger in a writing mode at a lower part. Thus a pen type input device is obtained. Then a ball pen core 4 serving as a writing tool is drawn out through an opening part 1a at the tip of the case 1. The core 4 is fixed to a main body 5 of the pen and supported equidistantly by springs 6 (6a and 6b) at the center part. At the same time, the semiconductor strain gauges 7 (7a and 7b) made of the pressure- sensitive elements are attached to both springs 6 for detection of the writing pressure in the (x) and (y) directions. These gauges 7 are connected to an electronic circuit in the case 1 for confirmation of input. Here the contents of recognition are displayed successively at the part 2 to inform the arithmetic contents to the user.
