PURPOSE:To enhance the ressolving power of a thermal transfer material by eliminating ground staining and tailing while keeping its thermal transfer performance by forming a thermal transfer layer on a supporter by laminating a thermal transfer ink layer and a heat and pressure-insensitive fine powder layer in order. CONSTITUTION:A composite ink layer 4 consisting of a thermal transfer ink layer 2 and a heat and pressure-insensitive fine powder layer 3 is formed on a supporter 1 to form a thermal material 5. As the supporter 1, well-known films and papers may be used in unchanged form. As a coloring agent to be contained in the thermal transfer ink layer, various kinds of dyes and pigments may be used. The thermal transfer ink layer used is for enabling the whole of the composite ink layer 4 to be transferred smoothly in order to obtain a recorded picture on the recording medium, and its melting temperature is preferably 40-150 deg.C. The heat and pressure-insensitive fine powder layer is preferably formed of fine powder of silicic anhydride, alumina, hydrated alumina, graphite, etc., having a grain size of 400mum or less. |
